Thailand becomes a safe haven for unions of the same sex in Southeast Asia

On January 23, Thailand officially allowed to marry everyone-a historical decision that made the first country in Southeast Asia to codify unions of the same sex. Within hours of enactment of law, hundreds of couples said “yes” to link the knot. Today, the Kingdom is known as a safe haven for LGBTQ societies throughout the region where other countries such as Myanmar or Malaysia are still a crime of the same sex.
