For many asylum seekers in France, the National Asylum Court, or CNDA (Cour nationale du droit d’asile), represents their last chance to obtain asylum in the country. Having already had their applications rejected by the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons (Ofpra), these men and women come, still full of hope, to the CNDA in the eastern suburbs of Paris. In this documentary by Yael Goujon, FRANCE 24 takes a look at the inner workings of France’s judicial system for asylum seekers, which has been criticized by some as too lenient and too harsh by others.
