However, Origin will be shut down entirely on April 17, 2025, as Microsoft ends support for 32-bit software. Anyone still using Origin will need to switch to the EA app before that date.

For PC gamers who haven’t made the move to the EA app, the company has Explanation of the latest system requirements. The EA app runs on a 64-bit architecture, and requires a device running Windows 10 or Windows 11. (Although Microsoft will already do this) That everyone upgrades to Windows 11 as is previous operating system.)

If you simply download the EA app onto an existing device, players won’t need to re-download their games. If you enable cloud saving, all your data should be transferred without any additional steps. However, it’s always a good idea to have physical backups with this type of transition, especially since not all games support cloud saving, and these titles will need to manually transfer your saved game data. Mods may also not automatically switch, and EA recommends players check with the mod creators about porting to the EA app.
