How to use Apple’s Genmoji to create new types of emoji

For decades, emoji selection was limited by what was available on your smartphone keyboard. Every year brings new emojis – “Love”Face with bags under the eyes“, although this is still a work in progress. But there are times when the pre-installed options aren’t specific enough. Fortunately, Apple has a solution, and it’s called Genmoji.

With help Apple intelligenceYou can create custom emojis directly from your keyboard using text prompts or even a photo of the person from your photo library. Below, I break down all the steps needed to create your own Genmoji.

Enable Apple Intelligence

Before we get started, you’ll need to check if you have access to Apple Intelligence. It launched with iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, but Genmoji specifically launched in iOS 18.2. To check your software version, go to Settings > General > About. You’re good to go if it’s iOS 18.2 or later. If you need to update, Make a backup of your device first.

If you still can’t access Genmoji, make sure Apple Intelligence is enabled (it should be default). Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri And switch Apple intelligence. It is worth noting that only Apple Intelligence Available on select iPhones-the iPhone 16 range, iPhone 15 Proand iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Enter your router

1. When the Messages window is open, tap the emoji icon (smiley face) or the keyboard icon (glob) to access the emoji keyboard.
2. In the upper-right corner of the keyboard, tap Genmoji icon (Pink and blue smiley face with plus sign).
3. Type a few words or phrases in the text box that describe what you’re looking for, and then click finished.
4. Scroll through the populated Genmojis and tap He adds on which you want to use. It will then appear in your emoji drawer and attachments.
5. You can also create Genmojis based on photos of people in your Photos app. Start by typing a prompt like “Julian is celebrating his birthday,” then tap “Choose someone” From the list of contacts that appears, select the specific person. From there, you’ll see multiple Genmojis populate based on the prompt. handle He adds When you find the one you want to use.

Set your Genmoji

You can also edit the original prompt to create new versions of the original Genmoji.

1. In the Genmoji window, tap the text box.
2. Write a revised version of your claim or a completely new one. For example, instead of “Dog with birthday hat,” you could change it to “Dog with birthday cake.” New versions will then be automatically republished.
