You’ve probably heard of adrenal cocktails and seen this “trendy” drink popping up on Instagram. Drinking an adrenal cocktail can help with stress response and much more, and I’ll break down that in today’s article!
Hello friends! I hope you have a wonderful week. In today’s post, I’m super excited to dive into today’s topic: the adrenal cocktail. My social media pages have been lighting up lately, so let’s reveal this interesting combination and the benefits of adrenal cocktail! Picture this: a delightful mixture of refreshing coconut water (or aloe vera juice), refreshing orange juice, and a pinch of salt.
Now you’re probably wondering what all the fuss is about. Well, it all boils down to our energy levels, chronic stress, and so-called adrenal fatigue. You see, the adrenal glands play a key role in managing stress and maintaining our overall health. But sometimes, these little gland warriors can feel a little tired, leading to low energy and a case of adrenal fatigue.
This is where the magic combination of orange juice, coconut water and sea salt comes to save the day! This dream team combination is thought to support adrenal function and give blood sugar levels a much-needed boost. Orange juice contains a large amount of vitamin C, which acts as a superhero for our immune system. Coconut water brings hydration to the party, replenishing those electrolytes like a champ. Last but not least, a sprinkle of sea salt adds a delicious touch and provides essential minerals that get your adrenal glands doing their happy dance.
Now, it’s important to note that there are a lot of variations in the adrenal cocktail. Some people like to add a little lemon juice or even a pinch of cinnamon for an extra dose. Feel free to experiment and make it your own!
I have reached out to Mia About Chat about it on the blog and co-wrote this post!
The Adrenal Cocktail Recipe and Why You Should Try It
So what is the adrenal cocktail?
The adrenal cocktail contains a combination of potassium, sodium, and vitamin C. Now, when it comes to adrenal cocktails, some people like to get a little adventurous with their extra blend. Picture this: a delicious blend of potassium, sodium and vitamin C, but with a creamy finish. That’s right, we’re talking about adding a little coconut cream to the mix. It’s like going from a regular workout to a full-on dance party for your taste buds!
But wait, there’s more! If coconut cream isn’t your jam, why not try coconut milk? This silky and slightly sweet alternative can give your adrenal cocktail a tropical vacation vibe. Just imagine sipping your coconut elixir and feeling the stress-relieving benefits like the waves on a sandy beach. Ah, heaven in a cup!
It may be helpful in your routine if you:
- Tired all the time and lethargic
- You feel stressed and need extra caffeine to fuel you throughout the day
- She has trouble sleeping and suffers from “tired but wired” syndrome.
Just know that you are not alone if you experience these things and we have (one) of the answers with which you can help dig yourself out of this hole.
So what is the adrenal gland?
Adrenal gland Sit on top of both kidneys. These small glands produce hormones that regulate your stress response, metabolism, glucose, blood pressure, and immune system. When they get taxed, the rest of you tank. The body craves balance and equilibrium. They’re also really good at adapting, so if you’re stressed in one area, they’ll downregulate in another to compensate for what you need to use to keep you alive and functioning.
- example: Your cycle gets longer or your period stops when you’re under a work deadline or feeling extremely stressed + over-exercising + under-eating = the body saying “getting pregnant isn’t a priority right now, so we can skip ovulation this month.”
When it comes to supporting the balance of our bodies, let’s not forget our hard-working adrenals. These little glands, located on top of our kidneys like adorable little hats, play a vital role in balancing hormones and keeping our internal systems running smoothly.
Now, here’s a fun fact: Did you know that adding healthy fats to our diet can support our adrenal health? Yes, this is correct! Foods like avocados, nuts and olive oil are nourishing food for the adrenal glands, helping them function at their best and keeping our hormonal balance in check.
In order to provide our body with the best balance, regulate blood sugar, improve metabolic flexibility, and increase insulin sensitivity, we need to support it!
But, how do we do that?
One small way is to add a little drink called an adrenal cocktail. It provides essential vitamins and minerals, especially potassium, sodium and vitamin C found in whole foods, but not ascorbic acid.
Adrenal Cocktail Recipe
Almost every “adrenal cocktail” recipe should provide the following:
- 375 mg of potassium (ATP, electrolytes)
- 460 mg sodium (electrolytes, blood pressure, energy)
- 60mg of complete vitamin C (our adrenals need more in times of stress and a source of carbohydrates)
Adrenal cocktails can be a mixture of orange juice, coconut water, salt, and/or cream of tartar. And when you think it can’t get any better, why not add a scoop of collagen powder? It’s like an invisible superhero swoops in to support your joints, hair, nails and skin – giving you an extra boost to get a really great workout!
