Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh has criticized Indian national team coach Gautam Gambhir for making allegations on Sarfaraz Khan regarding dressing room leaks. Harbhajan feels that Gambhir should not have said such things and instead should have spoken to the young man.
Recently, a report in News 24 claimed that Gambhir appointed Sarfaraz in the BCCI review meeting and it was he who leaked the Indian dressing room information to the media. In the same meeting, there were discussions about India’s poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
While reports have claimed that Gautam Gambhir is blaming Sarfaraz, the India coach has not said so officially yet and has also not responded to the issue. However, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the leaking of locker room information in a press conference during the series.

Harbhajan Singh criticizes Gautam Gambhir
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh spoke about the recent controversy surrounding the Indian cricket team following the team’s defeat in Australia. He also highlighted Gautam Gambhir blaming Sarfraz Khan for the dressing room leaks.
Harbhajan feels Gautam Gambhir should have spoken to Sarfaraz before blaming him in front of BCCI officials. According to Harbhajan, Sarfaraz still has a lot of cricket left and Gambhir should have explained that to him first.
“Whatever happened in the last few days, whether it was in Australia or afterwards… there are wins and losses on the field. But daily new stories should not come out of the dressing room. Today there was a report that the coach is difficult,” Gautam said. Gambhir said Sarfaraz Khan leaked dressing room conversations to the media.
“If the coach said that, he shouldn’t have done that. If Sarfraz Khan did that in Australia, you, the coach, could have talked to him then. He’s a player, make him understand. He’s a young lad.” He added that he will play for India in the future.
Harbhajan Singh blames Sarfaraz Khan
The former Indian pacer also blamed Sarfraz Khan for leaking the news and believes that talks in the dressing room should not take place at any cost. However, he urged all concerned to sit down and resolve the entire issue.
“Being a senior player, it is our duty to give wisdom to the youngsters. If he (Gautam Gambhir) said this, then Sarfaraz has leaked the news, and if the player has already done it, then it is wrong. The dressing room conversations should not be out in the open, they should To sit down and solve this issue,” Harbhajan said.
Sarfaraz Khan was in India’s squad for the Test series in Australia but did not play any matches. The 27-year-old has played 6 Tests so far and has scored 371 runs at an average of 37.10 with one hundred and three fifties.
Harbhajan Singh compares India’s current era to Greg Chappell
Harbhajan Singh also compared the current era of cricket in India with the era when Greg Chappell was the coach. During that era, there was a lack of communication between the players and the technical staff, which led to the team’s decline.
“In the last six-eight months there have been a lot of rumors in Indian cricket. It is very important that there is coordination between the players and the coach. In the 2005-06 season, during Greg Chappell’s era, the same thing happened,” the former Indian pacer said.
During Greg Chappell’s tenure, there was a rift between the team’s senior players and the head coach due to their diverse opinions. Chappell tried to use his own coaching methods which didn’t quite work in India.
As a result, India suffered some shocking defeats, most notably an early exit from the 2007 ODI World Cup held in the West Indies. Chappell immediately resigned from his position after disagreements with the team’s senior players.
