I decided my stamina had returned enough that I could try my group ride on Tuesday. We did one of my favorite walks – “Around the Tanks” as well as out and back on the Casa Loma route. I rode recumbent because it is easier on my back and less likely to cause worsening of the stenosis. I used electric assistance as needed to keep up. And I had plenty of battery to help me through the trip. A very enjoyable ride on a beautiful late fall day.

After the trip ended, I had a strange fall while getting off the bike. When I swung my leg over it, it snagged the frame tube, so it was temporarily balanced on one leg. Before I lost it, I fell backwards, hitting my back (near my sacrum) and my head on the pavement. Fortunately my helmet saved me. I’ve now got a new helmet (it’s not a good idea to reuse one after a major impact). In addition to back pain, which should go away within a day or two. It’s time to work more on balance!
