“I was in the women’s coach and…”: Redditor on disturbing ‘racist’ incident on Delhi Metro without support from participating passengers

An unfortunate incident on board the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line has sparked a debate on social responsibility and ethics after a woman reported being subjected to repeated racist remarks from a young child. The victim shared her experience on Reddit, drawing attention to the disturbing behavior and apparent indifference on the part of the child’s mother.

The woman described how she offered part of her seat to an 8-9-year-old girl at the request of the child’s mother, who referred to her daughter’s tantrums.

However, the situation quickly escalated when the child began chanting insulting phrases, including “cHiNki ChiNeSe chInKi ChInEse” as soon as he boarded the train. At first, the woman dismissed the comments, but found that the insults became increasingly audible once the child sat next to her.

“I was in the women’s coach, and everyone was staring at me as if I had done something wrong. I was so embarrassed,” the woman recounted.
