Since we were First set our eyes In Studio4°C and Kenshiro Akimoto’s animated adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s famous time-travel novel, we were eager to see more. From its lavish colors to its stunning sci-fi aesthetic (particularly in stark contrast to the more grounded approach of Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt) Cult classic Edge of tomorrow), all the way to her unique, fresh perspective All you need is to kill It quickly became one of our most anticipated films. Now we know when it’s coming, and it still looks great.

Warner Bros. released Japan has dropped a new trailer confirming that the anime adaptation will be hitting Japanese theaters early next year, though we still don’t know exactly when to expect it to premiere in the West (it premiered in the US last weekend in New York Comic Con), at least we can reward ourselves by seeing more of this film in action.

The new trailer focuses a little less on the emotions (although they’re still really pure) and more on introducing the time-loop premise of the story. Unlike both Sakurazaka’s book and the 2014 live-action film, New All you need is to kill Don’t focus her point on Keiji (expressed here Dan da dan and Demon SlayerNatsuki Hanae, which was romanized as Cage in the 2014 film), but is instead about Rita Vrataski (Ai Mikami), a young soldier on the front lines of humanity’s war against monstrous alien invaders.

When Rita and Keiji discover that they are connected by a shared consciousness by a time loop – starting on the same day over and over again when Rita dies – they try to discover the cause of their dilemma, honing their battle skills through endless loops along the way.

Anyone who has read the novel will know that Edge of tomorrow He made some adjustments to the original climax – and it seems that even with the perspective change from Keiji to Rita, the new anime will be much closer to the book. But no matter where this version is All you need is to kill Well, we’re going to have a great time when it makes its way out of Japan.

All you need is to kill It will be released in Japanese theaters on January 9, 2026.
