Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare is attracting renewed interest from Roma, with the Serie A club evaluating a mid-season transfer while reshaping their midfield options.
Soumare remained at King Power in the summer despite Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League.
Roma have been linked with several midfield formations as they plan for absences and look to add a physical presence in front of the defence.
According to what was reported by the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (as reported Sports Witness), Soumare is among the candidates who have won the admiration of Roma officials.
Roma targets a move for Boubakary Soumare
In Gian Piero Gasperini’s high-intensity style, a midfielder who can hold position and recycle play has clear value, and Soumare’s profile fits that brief.
The Frenchman remains at Leicester in the summer and is under contract until 2026.
Leicester may still be open to budget-friendly negotiations to avoid being stuck on a low-value contract, with figures as low as €10m circulating in the media.
Soumare, who spent 2023/24 on loan at Sevilla before returning to the Midlands, has drifted in and out of the squad since then, which naturally invites inquiries.
Leicester City may consider selling him in January

Leicester City could potentially lose the player on a free in the summer transfer window, so it would make sense for them to cash in on him in the January transfer window.
As for the player, he might be open to moving away from the English club since his promotion to the Premier League is not guaranteed, and in Roma, he will get the chance to play football at the highest level.
Along with Roma, Sevilla, where Soumare spent last season on loan, and Monaco are also believed to be interested, raising the possibility of a January move.
