Liverpool receives injury fears before facing Manchester United

The Netherlands international was forced off at half-time in the Netherlands’ 4-0 win over Finland, raising concerns about a possible hamstring injury just days before one of the most anticipated matches of the season.

Ryan Gravenberch suffered the injury while on international duty

The 23-year-old midfielder, who has been in fine form since his arrival from Bayern Munich, was replaced in the interim between the Netherlands’ emphatic win in Helsinki.

He was replaced by Manchester City midfielder Tijani Reynders as a precaution.

Dutch coach Ronald Koeman confirmed after the match that the decision to dismiss Gravenbrech came to avoid exacerbating the problem.

“Ryan indicated he was having some minor discomfort in his hamstring. Obviously we weren’t taking any risks with that.”

The player himself later reassured fans, stating that the issue was partly a matter of fitness and not a serious injury.

“It was partly about fitness. The season is long, so it was a precaution. I feel good and I have the confidence of the coach.” Gravenberch said.
