president Donald Trump He said he might send Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not resolve the war, calling the weapon “unbelievable” and “extremely offensive.”
Trump, while speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday evening, was asked about his recent conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and military aid.
Trump said he spoke with Zelensky on Sunday morning, and asked Zelensky about Ukraine’s need for additional weapons in its war against Russia.

“We didn’t give him anything, but we gave them respect and other things,” Trump said.

Before agreeing to send Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, Trump said he might first speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin to see if Moscow wants the missiles their way.
“I don’t think so,” Trump said. He added, “I might talk to Russia about it, in all fairness. I told President Zelensky about this because the Tomahawk missiles are a new aggressive step.”
As for a potential conversation about Putin, Trump said he might have to tell him, “If this war doesn’t get settled, I’m going to send them Tomahawk missiles.”

“The Tomahawk is an amazing weapon, a very offensive weapon, and frankly, Russia doesn’t need that,” Trump said. “I can tell him that if the war is not settled, we might do it. We may not do it, but we might do it. I think it is appropriate to bring this up.”
Trump added: “I want to see the war over.”
Zelensky wrote In an X post on Sunday, he said his conversations with Trump “covered all aspects of the situation,” including Ukraine’s life defense and its efforts to strengthen its air defense, resilience and long-range capabilities.

Trump’s talks with Zelensky come as Moscow continues to strike Ukraine with drones and missiles, wounding at least 20 people in Kiev and causing widespread power outages on Friday. A child was also killed in a separate Russian attack in the southeast of the country.
Late Saturday and early Sunday, Russia attacked Ukraine’s power grid in an attempt to degrade the country’s energy infrastructure ahead of winter.

The latest attack on the network, similar to annual Russian strikes before the winter, came as Moscow expressed “grave concern” about the possibility of the United States supplying Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.
