Ennis crushes Lima in 118 seconds

Jaron “Boots” Ennis (35-0(31)) knocked out WBA No. 9 champion Uisma Lima (14-2(10) at 1:58 of the first of a scheduled 12-rounder to capture the interim WBA junior middleweight title on Saturday night at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In the first round, Ennis dropped Lima with a combination to the chin, starting with a right uppercut, for an 8 count from referee Sean Clark. He followed with a flurry of punches, dropping Lima a second time for an eight count. Ennis then followed up with a stinging combination, which resulted in it being waved off by referee Clarke.

Vianello stops the barriers

In main support, southpaw Alexis “The Great” (12-1(10)) was stopped by Olympian Guido “The Wrestler” Vianello (14-3-1(11) at 0:20 of the fifth of a scheduled 10-rounder for the vacant WBC American Continental heavyweight title.

In the first round, Vianello, in the first minute and final seconds, landed on Barrier’s chin. In the second round, Barrier outpointed Vianello. In the fourth round, Vianello landed an upper right to the chin, followed by several punches, resulting in Barrier being dropped for an eight-count by referee Ricky Gonzalez.

In the fifth round, Vianello again dropped Barrier with a right to the left side of his head as referee Gonzalez counted him out.

Tahir Smalls remains undefeated

Tahir Smalls (16-0 (11)) defeated Jose Roman (14-2 (6) by 10-round unanimous decision to win the Welter North America Continental Title. In the third, Smalls scored a knockdown after connecting with a right and then a left hand.

In the first round, the shorter Smalls bested the Romans. In the third round, Smalls dropped Roman with a right to the chin, and as he was falling, Smalls landed a left hand to the head as referee Harvey Duke gave him an eight count. Smalls gave him trouble the rest of the round.

In the fourth and fifth rounds, Roman returned well and won both rounds. In the final seconds of the sixth round, Smalls rocked Roman with a right to the chin. In the seventh and eighth rounds, Roman had the advantage.

In the ninth round, Roman used his hand to land Smalls. In the tenth and final round, Smalls rocked him with a right to the chin midway through the round in a close round.

The scores were 98-91, 96-93, and 95-94.

Ficcioli outperforms Wilkins

Lightweight Giorgio Ficcioli (9-0(6)) defeated James “Crunch Time” Wilkins (13-4(6)) by lopsided eight-round unanimous decision.

In the first two rounds, Ficcioli outplayed Wilkins. In the third round, Ficcioli went to the body of Wilkins and took another round. In the fifth round, Wilkins came back outside of Fiesoli. In the eighth and final round, Ficcioli won another round.

The scores were 80-72, 80-72, and 80-72. Harvey Duke was the referee.

Moses dominates in six

Super featherweight Zaken Moses (4-0(3)) defeated Antonio Dunton El Jr. (6-4-2(2)) by six-round unanimous decision.

In the first three rounds, Musa dominated. In the fifth round, Moses hurt Dunton with a left hand midway through the round. In the sixth and final round, Moses beat Dunton to the body.

The scores were 60-54, 60-54, and 60-54. Ricky Gonzalez was the referee.

Light welterweight Justin Palmieri (5-1(3)) lost to Naeem Parker (6-3(2) by six-round unanimous decision.

In the second round, Parker landed an overhand kick in the first minute to Palmieri’s chin. In the fifth round, Palmieri’s right eye began to swell.

The judges’ scores were 60-54, 60-54, and 60-54. Dave Braslow was the referee.

Mederos scores an explosive knockdown

Light welterweight Harley “Dennis the Menace” Medeiros (9-0(8)) knocked out Hylon Williams Jr. (16-7-1(3) after one round of six scheduled rounds.

In the first round, Medeiros dropped Williams with a right kick in the first minute, with his knee hitting the canvas for an eight count from referee Eric Daly. Seconds later, a left kick from Medeiros dropped Williams again for an 8 count from referee Daly. Between the two rounds, Williams’ corner kick refused to continue, prompting referee Daly to stop.

Thompson beats Diaz in the war

Super bantamweight Dennis “Quiet Storm” Thompson (8-0(5)) won a six-round split decision over Shawn “Dillinger” Diaz (9-1(2).

In the first two rounds, the taller Thompson had the advantage as Diaz began to show off in the second round. In the third round, Diaz continued to showboat as Thompson outmaneuvered him.

In the fourth round, Thompson drew blood from Diaz’s mouth, and also bested him with a body shot midway through the round. In the fifth round, referee Eric Daly awarded a point to Diaz for holding him. In the sixth and final round, Thompson continued to outmaneuver Diaz, who had a mark under his right eye at the end.

The scores were 60-53 for Thompson, 57-56 for Diaz and 57-56 for Thompson.
