Fighting
- Russian drone and missile attacks across Ukraine on Saturday killed at least five people and also cut power to parts of Ukraine. Southern Odessa regionAccording to the French news agency, quoting local officials.
- Agence France-Presse said that two victims were killed in an attack on a church in Kostyantinivka, east of Donetsk.
- Ukrainian private energy company DTEK said electricity had been restored to 240,000 households in Odessa after the Russian attack on Saturday night, which damaged some energy infrastructure.
- A Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Kursk region killed an 81-year-old man, Russia’s TASS news agency said.
- An official from the Ukrainian security service SBU told Reuters news agency that Ukrainian drones struck the Russian Bashneft oil refinery in Ufa, causing explosions and a fire. The unnamed official said that the attack represents the third time that Ukrainian forces have bombed the facility in Bashkortostan, southwestern Russia, in the past month.

Cuba has denied US claims that it has deployed soldiers to fight alongside Russia in its war in Ukraine. It also said that 26 Cubans had been sentenced to prison terms ranging from five to 14 years for mercenary activity since September 2023, when reports spread of Cubans being sent to the front in Ukraine.
