India in leadership after Shubman Gill’s heroics

Earlier in the day, India declared their first innings with a score of 518/5, on board the captain Shubman GillUnbeaten 129. The young skipper once again showed maturity beyond his years, as he paced his innings to perfection and guided India to a massive total.

Yashavi Jaiswalwho started the second day with an overnight score of 173, unfortunately missed a hundred after a mix-up with Gill that saw him run out at 175. South looked in sublime touch throughout his innings and laid the perfect foundation for India’s dominance.

Adding to India’s strong position, both Nitish Reddy (43) and Dhruv Gurriel (44) made useful contributions at the bottom of the order. The duo kept on the scoreboard and ensured that India’s momentum did not falter despite the fall of Jaiswal’s wicket.
