The second day of the second test between India and West Indies Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium has had an exciting start. Young editorial Yashavi Jaiswalwho had fought so brilliantly on the first day, found himself back in the pavilion early on Saturday morning after a heartbreaking mingling with the captain. Shubman Gill.
Yashasvi Jaiswal misses a double ton after being run out for 175
Jaiswal, who resumed on 173 overnight, looked set for a massive double century – a feat that would have added another illustrious milestone to his rapidly rising career. However, on the second day of the day, disaster struck. On the second delivery of the 92nd over, bowled by Jayden Seales, Jaiswal drove the ball sharply towards mid-on and called for a quick single. However, Gill showed no interest in running, leaving Jaiswal stranded midway on the pitch. Tevin Imlach He collected the toss and took the bails out at the right time, ending Jaiswal’s innings on 175.
The young southpaw was clearly distraught, and his slow return to the pavilion reflected his disappointment. He can be seen expressing his frustration, appearing to remind Gill that it was his calling, before disappearing into the dressing room.

Moments after Jaiswal’s dismissal, fans took to social media to vent their frustration towards Gill. Many blamed the Indian skipper for the confusion, suggesting that better communication between the two could have prevented the dismissal. Many fans tagged Gill and expressed their disappointment at what they described as a “careless” moment from the captain.
Some fans even argued that Gill’s hesitant running between the wickets was a recurring problem, while others sympathized with Jaiswal, who missed a potential double hundred that looked within reach.
Here’s how fans reacted:
My hatred for Shubman Gill increased after this run!
He should have said out loud, “No.”Yashavi wastes 200 well-deserved points!#INDvWI

Shubman Gill, the insecure conman and selfish leader. Yashasvi Jaiswal was run out by Gill, which cost him a well-deserved hundred. pic.twitter.com/VmFG6YkMEI

This was entirely Shubman Gill’s fault. If he didn’t want to run, he could have pointed right after Yashasvi Jaiswal ran for a quick single. But Gill waited until Jaiswal reached the halfway point.
Awesome to see this βΉοΈ#INDvWIβ Random (@Random144729) October 11, 2025

Don’t give Captain Shopman Gill unnecessary hate for this escape. Here is my review of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s run out.
– I’m watching now so I can tell you with 100% conviction that it was Yashavi Jaiswal’s mistake. He has this bad habit of running after a direct collision… pic.twitter.com/g5SYOCPBqf

You can trust an enemy, but you can never trust Shubman Gill as a batsman.
He’s one of those jealous people walking around.
Yashavi Jaiswal walked out because of Shubman Gill, called him first and then told him no. pic.twitter.com/mPX8iAajfv

Shubman Gill always comes as bad news for Jaiswal.
A more deserving position in T20I.
Yashasvi is a better Test player and Gill has somehow become an uncertain captain
Now this double opportunity has been lost π#indiavsWI #shopmangel #Jaiswal #yashasvijaiswal

Meet Shubman Gill,
Rohit Sharma was recently replaced as the ODI captain by failing to bat and do yes sir yes sir to Gautam Gambhir.
Today his fears reached a level where he stole an outstanding amount of $200 from Yashasvi Jaiswal by making him run out. pic.twitter.com/sU3dTZ3teX

The worst case scenario is if anyone is run out in Test cricket after scoring 175 runs.
He could have scored 300 to 400 the way he was playing, and Schoopman could have managed the situation better.
This is very sad for Yashavi, as he could not even score 200 runs.#endvoi #indvsway

Records galore for Jaiswal despite the heartbreak
Despite the unfortunate end to his innings, Jaiswal’s 175 was a masterclass in temperamental playing and strokeplay. His performance etched his name in the record books once again. By achieving his fifth score of 150 or more in Test cricket before he turned 23, Jaiswal surpassed Sachin TendulkarLong-term record. Only legendary Don Bradmanwith eight such scores before 24, stands above him on this rare list.
Additionally, Jaiswal’s century was his seventh as a Test opener in World Test Championship (WTC)and placed it in second place after Rohit Sharmawhich has eight. He has also surpassed Sri Lanka Dimuth Karunaratne And Australia Othman Al Khawajaboth of which have Six Hundreds of the World Trade Center as openers.
