We’ve done it, all of us. We have finally reached the end of the road: Peacemaker Season two the end. And boy howdy have we seen a lot. Strange alternate dimensions not very different from our own. Man suffering from face blindness with birds. Mick Jagger is in The Beatles and a world without the Kardashians. Egli.

Oh, and Christopher Smith is traumatized by his found family His politically moderate father was killed He almost killed his reverse brother before making a daring escape into our dimension, only to hand over the portal door and his freedom to ARGUS.

And yet, somehow, we still have one more episode to tie this already huge present of the new DC Universe together while also setting the tone for the upcoming works. There is no pressure. Let’s see how James Gunn Stuck landing, for old times’ sake.

Episode 8, “Full Nelson,” begins in a way we’re all somewhat familiar with by now: with a flashback. One month ago, to be exact. And now we know, we’ll finally know what happened between Christopher Smith (John Cena) and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) on that boat that made their situation so messy.

Although they were cute in the sketches at the restaurant table, they had a deep conversation about Harcourt’s sensitivity to being seen as special. Then they do six shots each, walk out of the restaurant, shut up the freckled creak, walk down the sidewalk, and go on a boat cruise.

Back in the present (damn it!), Chris is inside a prison cell after surrendering to ARGUS, refusing to visit his friends. Elsewhere, Flory (Tim Meadows), Harcourt, Judomaster (Nhut Le), and the rest of the ARGUS men tour Chris’s pocket-dimensional door room wearing hazmat suits, taking pictures as they go. They’re searching for something on the orders of Rick Flagg Sr. (Frank Grillo) – my money is on him selfishly searching for his own son.

The only problem is that they opened the door to… Alice in WonderlandA seemingly world where a group of small creatures attacked them and carried them away into some kind of worse horror, and now they are stuck. The creatures also want to eat their faces. Thank God they came out. All of them except “Titties”, a mercenary who hated Flory’s jokes and deserves a visit to HR. We will miss him.

We cut to John Economous (Steve Agee) to show how stupid their mission is and how ARGUS is working for Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) in Harcourt. Obviously, their mission is to find a habitable world like ours. The husband has reservations about how virtuous the mission really is. But enough of that, because Egli sits depressed in the closet because Chris is in prison.

Meanwhile, Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) makes a house call to Adrian Chase (Freddie Stroma) to try and come up with a plan to hire a lawyer for Chris to try him in court using Adrian’s blood money. After posting bail, Chris returns home and tells Economous that he is taking Egli and skipping town. Adebayo, Adrian and Harcourt, justifiably, criticize Economous for simply letting Chris go.

After a montage of portal-door incidents with zombie universes and dystopian hellscapes with giant skull spiders, the ARGUS gang seems to have gotten good data on what Flag Sr. is after. And the rest of Lex’s friends: Planet Salvation. What is the planet of salvation, you ask? Dimensional prison for posthumans – removing them from our world. A sort of Phantom Zone, if you will. The father’s flag is entirely Lex. Whatever happened between Commando Creatures Now this man has changed. sad.

Sasha Bordeaux (Sul Rodriguez) meets with Harcourt to tell her about Flagg Sr.’s plans for the prison planet at the same diner from the beginning of the episode. They then meet with Adebayo and come up with a plan to rescue Chris and stop the whole prison planet thing. After a mini-montage of the plot, Harcourt finds a ticket from their boat trip in her bathroom mirror and has a flashback. After enjoying the music (in flashback), Chris and Harcourt share a long, passionate kiss on the boat. Harcourt walks away, traumatized by all the kissing with the man who killed her ex, leaving Chris heartbroken.

Now we know what happened on the boat. Two great mysteries have been solved – the first object What’s up with Earth X?-And we still have a little over 20 minutes left.

Back at ARGUS, Economus, Harcourt, and Bordeaux enact their plan to distract Lex’s minions and thwart the Prison Dimension’s plans. Things are not going well. The Economous is terrible at improvisation. Fortunately, his screams were enough for them to locate Chris at the hotel he was staying at. They all bomb Chris before he tries to escape, prompting Adrian to tackle him and taser him. I got it. After he wakes up, they ask Chris why he’s acting out of character. He says it’s “fucking damned.”

He killed his brother Rick Flagg Jr. (Joel Kinnaman) and his father, then went to an alternate dimension where he killed himself and watched his reverse father die as a broken man. Adebayo cuts in and tells Chris that every time someone around him dies, it’s because he didn’t listen to himself and realize that following the orders of his father, Amanda Waller, and his own stupid curiosity about the other world is what got him into this mess.

She concludes her scolding of Chris by telling him that he means a lot to the group, changing them for the better, and allowing them to witness miracles (such as an eagle hugging a human). Everyone echoes that sentiment, especially Harcourt.

They decide to finally stop listening to others and do what they want, starting by foiling ARGUS and Luthor’s plans. Chris Harcourt asks again if the boat means something. Finally she acquiesced, saying, “Of course it happened, you fucking idiot. It meant everything.” We’ve reached peak emotional catharsis, people.

Chris celebrates in his hotel room while the opening song plays. We move forward and backward over a week, as Foxy Shazam sings the opening song from the boat, and the crew montages their plan to stop ARGUS. Their plan begins with the group (which now includes Bordeaux, Flurry, and Godomaster) establishing Checkmate, their new base of operations, using Adrien’s blood money.

We’re getting closer to Chris getting a black briefcase and taking him back to ARGUS. There, Flagg Sr. detains Chris on the planet Salvation to monitor the effects of the dimension on humans, according to Ricky. The season ends with Chris hearing a strange roar from a nearby tree line as the camera zooms out and fades to black.
