CSK issues an official statement after the players’ release list was leaked ahead of the IPL auction

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have finally opened up on reports of releasing Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, Sam Curran and Devon Conway ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.

The five-time champions – Chennai Super Kings – took to their official handle X to address the matter after the player release list for the franchise started circulating on social media on Friday, October 10.

CSK finished last in IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings finished their 2025 Indian Premier League campaign at 10th position on the points table. They won just four games and lost 10 on the season and had a net earned run average of -0.647.

This was the first time that CSK had finished at the bottom of the points table in history, and also the first time that the franchise had missed the playoffs for two consecutive seasons.

Also, CSK lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home for the first time in 17 years and to Delhi Capitals after 15 years. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Chennai Super Kings in their own backyard for the first time in history

CSK breaks silence on Sam Curran and others release rumors

Cricbuzz recently released a report providing some updates about the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, which is scheduled to be held in December.

In the same report, it was stated that CSK is looking to release some big names from the team to free up its wallet and enter the auction with a big sum in the bag.

It has been reported that the five-time champions are looking to release Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, Sam Curran and Devon Conway. Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement also added INR 9.75 crore to their portfolio.

After the report went viral, CSK took to X to shut down the growing chatter. They shared a post that read: “Don’t worry, we’ve updated the bio,” and their new bio read: “Nothing is official until you see it here.”
