The Houston, Texas-based company is expected to publish its financial results for the third quarter of 2025 after the market closes on Monday, October 27. Prior to this event, analysts expect WM to report adjusted EPS of $2.03, growth of 3.6% from $1.96 in the same quarter last year. It has topped Wall Street’s final estimates in three of the last four quarters while missing on another occasion.
For fiscal 2025, analysts expect the garbage hauling and recycling company to report adjusted EPS of $7.57, up 4.7% from $7.23 in fiscal 2024. Looking ahead, adjusted EPS is expected to rise 12.4% year over year to $8.51 in fiscal 2026.
WM stock is up 5.3% over the past 52 weeks, lagging the broader S&P 500 Index (SPX)’s 17.4% return and the SPDR Industrial Select Fund’s (XLI) gain of 14.5% over the same period.
Waste Management shares rose 3.4% following Q2 2025 results on July 28. Adjusted earnings came in at $1.92 per share and revenue was $6.43 billion, above expectations. Investors have also been encouraged by higher WM prices, continued demand for waste collection and disposal, and efficiency gains from increased automation that has reduced labor costs.
The consensus analyst view on WM shares is cautiously optimistic, with an overall rating of “Moderate Buy.” Of the 25 analysts covering the stock, 13 suggest a “strong buy,” one gives a “moderate buy,” and 11 offer a “hold” rating. The average analyst price target for Waste Management is $259.68, suggesting a potential upside of 18.3% from current levels.
