“There’s something about knowing that no matter how painful or difficult or how devastating something is, there is a way through it,” the 58-year-old actress said in an interview with the magazine. “So you’re like, ‘Oh, I’ve been here before. I actually know how to deal with this now,'” she explained. “Or maybe I haven’t been in this place, but I’ve been through something similar to this, and I know I’ll get through it.”
As Kidman gets older, she’s not afraid to be honest about her life experiences.
“I want to be able to share and pass on the things I’ve learned. I’ve seen a lot, I’ve experienced a lot, I’ve survived a lot,” she told the outlet. “I want to pass on some of that knowledge and that wisdom and everything that I’ve learned.”
While Kidman doesn’t want to tell “people what to do,” she is “more than happy” to pass on her knowledge.
“People can relate to stories, because we all know you ask someone to do something, and they’ll do what they want to do anyway,” she continued. “That’s true, isn’t it? So it’s more about sharing your own experiences, and saying this is what I’ve learned, take from it what you will.”
As for what motivates her, Kidman very enthusiastically said that she is “grateful” to be “alive.”
“I’m grateful to be a part of this world. I’m grateful to be alive as a woman, an actress, and a producer, both professionally and personally,” she said. “Also, (give) my children a purpose to be their protector and guide, and promise them that I am here, and no matter what, there is always a safe place for them to grow up.”
