With some baby gear, you can wait to see if you need it. But not the car seat. You’ll need one to leave the hospital, and while you may want to start with a portable infant car seat (which is great for loading newborns inside and carrying them while they sleep!), once your baby reaches a certain weight and height, they’ll need a larger car seat. I’m loving this seat from Maxi-Cosi for my toddler right now, which has lots of adjustments for his 3-year-old’s tall body and two removable drink holders.

This adorable stroller is a game changer, and once my baby started sitting face forward, I was obsessed with it Travel carts Lightweight and can be folded small. One of the smallest strollers I’ve ever tried is the Cybex Libelle stroller. It’s a great choice for parents who want something extra small for their trunk that their kids will still be comfortable in. It has a unique handle style, but you get used to it.

They often come with a few brim size options, rather than the single brim I got with my classic pump that turned out to be a bad fit (no wonder my pump results were average), so it’s easier to find a good fit and they’re more comfortable to wear since you’re not experiencing cords sticking out of your body. Great for any mom who pumps, whether you’re out and about in the office or just prefer pumping in general.

If you’re looking for a compact stroller but nothing as compact as the Cybex above, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 is a remarkable feat of design, featuring jogger-style wheels and folding almost flat into a single stroller. It’s been one of my favorites for a while, and is still worth a mention on our site Best strollers guide. It has car seat attachments, but it’s really best for forward-facing kids. It’s convenient to push and compact without skimping on things like undercarriage storage.
