Roach looks to grab 140 pounds after fighting Pitbull Crews

Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) says a win over Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOs) will lead to other top 140 fighters wanting to fight him. Even if they don’t, he mentions that he could use the WBC interim title to force a fight against the winner of Subril Mathias vs. Dalton Smith.

130 to 140: Chasing bigger battles

Roach hasn’t said whether he will move between the 140, 135 and 130 pound divisions, trying to take whatever fight pays more. He still holds the WBA super featherweight title, which he has not defended in 16 months. It is realistic to assume that the WBA will strip Roach of his title soon for relinquishing his title.

Cruz vs. Roach headlines the Frostbank Center in San Antonio, Texas. No word yet on price Prime Video PPV, but it will probably be around $74.99. For many fans, they wouldn’t be happy to pay that kind of price to watch Cruz defend his interim WBC light welterweight title. That’s not even a full belt, and Roach isn’t ranked 140 or 135.

Pitbull’s relentless pressure

Davis landed the hardest, cleanest shots throughout the fight. What prevented him from winning was that he didn’t throw the way he wanted to.
