In it, our hero wakes up 500 years in the future to discover that a movie called… Assa feature-length butt-banking film, was a #1 hit in the country. What Mike Jaddiff probably didn’t know when writing his satire was that Troma’s entertainment had already hit him buttcracka movie that’s basically the same idea.
I’ll give the judge credit for warning us against society’s descent into widespread intellectual ineptitude, however buttcrack It came out in 1998. The wheels were already turning before long Idiocracy It was even a gleam in the judge’s eye.
You might be wondering what kind of person watches something like buttcrack. The answer is me. I’m the target audience for movies like this. Not because it’s “so bad it’s good.” This is not good. It’s bad. But it captures the spirit of the indie industry which I’ve always respected.
Someone thought this was a good idea, put in the effort, found distribution, and released it into the world without tearing up in shame. Filmmakers like Jim Larson deserve to be protected at all costs. They’re a dying breed, and you can’t fault their relentless commitment to whatever alien vision they’re chasing.
ButtCrack is like those stupid movies you made with your friends in high school
Before I was old enough to get a job, my friends and I made stupid plays with our parents’ cameras. Jackass and the Tom Green displays Consider it primetime television, and we were inspired enough to try our own thing with whatever we could find lying around. We’ve made character parts like “this guy,” who enters a scene, pushes up his glasses, starts every sentence with “Well, actually…” and ruins the fun for everyone by endlessly fact-checking.
“This guy” was stupid. buttcrack It has the same additional power value and home video production value. Watching it hit me with a wave of nostalgia. I found myself thinking, “This is so stupid, I could have made it.”
Fun way to spend 80 minutes or so
Larry Stanley of Cult pieces Magazine once said she was watching buttcrack It’s “a fun way to spend 80 minutes or so.” He’s right.
The plot couldn’t be simpler: Brian (Doug Siskowski) can’t stand his roommate, Wade (Caleb Kretscher), because his buttcrack is constantly hanging out and making everyone uncomfortable. Brian’s girlfriend, Annie (Kathy Waits) is particularly disgusted as Wade wanders around, singing, picking up laundry, and talking about Atari while his back cleavage hovers menacingly from everyone in sight. In the end, Brian snaps and kills Wade by dropping a radio into the bathtub.
Unfortunately for Brian, Wade’s sister is a witch who framed him for killing her brother. The curse only activates if someone says “buttcrack” 12 times in one breath. Brian doesn’t take it seriously until Annie, in a fit of rage, does just that. Wade rises from the grave, buttcrack and all, ready to terrorize the couple.
To fix things, Brian and Annie turn to preacher man Bob (Mojo Nixon), who is armed with the energy of a wild Southern preacher and lines like “God is everywhere! He’s in your shoes!” Together they try to reverse the curse and send Wade to the grave once and for all.

From the sexy production quality to one joke’s premise about a man’s exposed backside, buttcrack Not a smart thinker. It absolutely stinks. But it’s also a blast.
You could tell everyone involved was having fun, just friends making something ridiculous because they could. It’s a kind of low-stakes filmmaking that feels refreshingly human in its stupidity.
You have to be a special person to enjoy it buttcrack. But if you’re still reading this, you might be that person. Personally, I give it an A+ for boldness, so take my review with a grain of salt.
