On Monday, the Awards Authority said that scientists, Marie Branko, Farid Ramzdale, and Sacon Sakajui, won the Nobel Prize in 2025 in physiology or medicine for their “discoveries related to peripheral immune tolerance.”

“The award this year is related to how to keep our immune system under control so that we can fight all microbes that can be imagined and avoid autoimmune.”

BRUNKOW is a large program manager at the Systems Biology Institute in Seattle. RAMSDell is a scientific advisor for Sonoma Biotherapics in San Francisco. Sakaguchi is a distinguished professor at the Immunology Research Center at the University of Osaka in Japan.

“Their discoveries have set the basis for a new field of research and sparked new treatments, for example, for cancer and autoimmune diseases,” the award commission said in a statement.

The Nobel Prize was created by the wealthy Swedish chemist and businessman Alfred Nobel, which led to the use of the largest part of his property to finance “Awards for those who, during the previous year, have given the greatest benefit to humanity.”

Peace Prize is awarded Friday

Nobel is known as the inventor of dynamite, but it also wrote poetry and drama and can speak Russian, French, English and German at the age of 17. The original five prize categories reflect the interests closest to his heart.

The Nobel Awards, which are also distributed to distinguished achievements in physics, chemistry, literature and peace, come with a prize amount of 11 million Swedish ($ 1.6 million CDN).

Among the prominent beasts of Nobel are scientists Albert Einstein and Mary Curie, authors Ernest Hemingway and Albert Camus, and inspiring personalities such as Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Junior and Mother Teresa.

The Nobel Prizes are presented to the beasts on December 10, the anniversary of the death of Nobel.
