Although India urges its external talent to return to the homeland and build the nation, some professionals say that their hesitation is not related to ambition – it is related to trust. They argue that the real barrier is not an opportunity but indifference.

Dr. Rajishwari Air, who is from Alian Momai and Professor IIT, has expressed strong reservations in a post on X after the government renewed its call to Indian professionals abroad to return.

“This is a trap by the government. Once we return, they will take everything in the name of social welfare and do nothing in return,” she wrote.

Her fears reflect a deeper hope. She added, “You may end up losing your life on the roads full of decoration and forced to bribe government employees just to complete your work on time.”

The comments came in response to a recent statement by Dr. PK Mishra, the main secretary of the Prime Minister, who said that the center encourages the Indians working abroad to return as part of the efforts of the Capacity Building Committee. The message also follows a rise in H-1B visa fees, which may affect many Indian professionals.

India, at the same time, continues to place itself as an integrity and entrepreneurial destination. With more than 1.57 Dipiit startups, the third largest environmental system for starting in the world, after the United States and China remains. Government officials highlight the improvement of digital infrastructure, organizational support and access to financing as major engines.

However, for many, such as Dr. Air, the vibrant vision scene does not exceed the living facts of public services and bureaucratic obstacles.

Its publication captures an unpopular feeling often between the diaspora: that return is not just a professional decision, but it is a very personal decision that is formed from the expectations of fairness, safety and job governance.
