The Sherry Cole’s path (SC) to finance the invoice was only my line. After starting work at the age of 16 and Travel around the world, she is now the head of customer services at Optimum Finance, where she provides heroes efficiency, supports new talent and flourishes in solving problems. In a conversation with the Life Editor, the rented Alejandro Gonzalez (AG).
Sherry Cole
SC: I have worked in the financial industry for more than 30 years; My career started directly from school at the age of 16. After I completed GCSE, I decided to go directly to work full time as I was very patience and independent, I wanted to buy my first car and get out of London and travel.
My career started receiving accounts in central London before moving to work in the Finance Department of the Advertising Agency. I was there for four years before I left to travel and I was lucky enough to offer it to a position in the Sydney office in the same agency, where I worked for 6 months between my trips. I met my husband, who was working in a ski resort in Switzerland at the time and joined it, as we ran in Verbier and Lake Geneva resorts for a few years for a well -known travel company. We have done a lot of travel before we decided to return to the UK and get appropriate jobs in the late twenties. My career has started to finance the bill as a credit control unit. I applied to the Director of Relations before moving to the bank of Hight Street to take over the role of the auditor. Then I returned to an independent as head of employment financing, where she stayed for five years.
I joined Optimum Finance again in 2018, a year after its launch – which was, and is still, very exciting and rewarding. Being here since the early years means that I had the opportunity to work in many roles throughout the work and it was a pleasure to lead multiple teams.
SC: My vertical vertical requires focus on driving operational efficiency, simplifying the process and ensuring that our fixed and high -quality teams are provided internally and our customers. I enjoy solving problems and support people to be in their best. I also enjoy my challenge, which prompted me to take the position of ownership of the product in the middle of 2025, which I currently loaned.
I was really pleased with the role of the owner of the product, as it is closely corresponding to the way I like to work, drilling pain points and knowing how to solve it. After I spent years in improving operations and supporting teams, I was already seized as it may not work and where we can do what is better. Give me the transition to the ownership of the product the opportunity to turn these ideas into a meaningful change.
SC: Throughout my career, I had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles, everyone gives me new views and challenges to grow from them. I am proud of the teams that led them, gathered people together, building confidence, and helping them with prosperity, as long as it was the most prominent for me. I am working with one of the most amazing people, supporting each other is great and working hard.
SC: I never felt restrictions the way I work, and I can always speak freely and put my thoughts forward knowing that they will always be heard. Either it is taken on board and executed, or if it is not, there is always a good reason. Optimum is not a place where you are afraid of challenge.
SC: Over the years, the industry has become more efficient. When I first started, everything was manually and customers depended on us every step. Today, with increased automation, they are enabled for self -service, provided that they have the appropriate tools and support. We have made the priority of giving our customers to confidence to manage things independently. To do this, we have developed short and practical training videos by managing their facilities. Internally, we also encouraged our difference to challenge the current situation by asking “Why?” Whenever the task does not seem to add value. If the process does not serve a clear purpose, we have removed it. This has led to the liberalization of precious time, and most importantly, allowing us to provide funding to our customers more quickly.
SC: I am excited to bring a new talent in the bill financing industry, and I saw real benefits of doing this. We welcomed the trainees at work, giving them the experience and a clear development path, which was incredibly rewarding. We also rented people from outside the industry, and this brought a new perspective as well, as old thinking methods that help us develop. I like building stronger links with colleges and universities to expand our training programs and show more people the opportunities provided by this sector.
SC: I do not think that the presence of women in financial services is more important than any other industry, or more important than the presence of men. What matters is a varied mix of people and views to pay better results. However, if we want to see more women in senior or any role, flexibility is the key. The industry has made progress, but there is still work in creating environments in which people, men or women can flourish without compromising other parts of their lives. When we focus on results instead of solid structures, we open the door to a wide range of talents.
