Barcelona sports director Deco confirmed that Manchester City inquired about the back Gul Konide during the summer.
The city still needs a long -term alternative to Kyle Walker departing and asked Barca if France Kounte is available.
Deco said to Mundo Deportivo: “There was no offer. The only thing I know is that the city was looking for a full back, and of course they asked us whether Koundé was on the market. We told them no. So there was no offer or any negotiation.”
Deco explained that she was a routine conversation during the window, adding: “If you know a sports manager in the club, I will call him and tell him that we are looking for (a player) in this position, and if you are thinking about the sale.
“As we said from the beginning, the relationship with City, with (former sports director) Txiki (begiristain) and now with Hugo Viaana who is my friend, is good and direct, without any medium that is not required.”
Manchester City is still struggling to replace Walker
After it was rejected by Barcelona, City failed to sign the specialized right -back and worked with Matheus Nunes or Abdukodir Khusanov in this role so far this season.
Kounde continued to sign a new five -year contract with Barcelona in August, and followed by Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Gavi and Pedri in the club’s future.
When signing, he said: “I am very happy here, I feel comfortable in the team and I am very excited about the club’s ambition.
“Every year we fight for all titles and I have no intention to leave.”
Kounde joined Barca from Sevilla in 2022 and moved successfully from the middle to the right back over the past three years.
He won two titles in the league The winner scored as Barcelona won the Cuba del Rey by beating Real Madrid in the final in April.
