Washington had the first closure of the US government in nearly seven years on Tuesday evening, as legislators failed to break the stalemate in the crisis financing talks.

President Donald Trump said that the closure was “possible” and that his administration was ready to launch a “many” federal workers, as he blamed Democratic legislators for the dilemma.

“Democrats want to close it,” Trump told reporters at the Oval Office on Tuesday afternoon. “When you close it, you have to do hairstyles, so we will drop many people who will be affected very.”

The federal government was ready to close it at 12:01 am on Wednesday, unless the Republicans and Democrats at Capitol Hill could have an agreement to maintain government financing.

“There is nothing inevitable, but I say it is likely to be likely,” Trump told reporters earlier on Tuesday when asked about the possible closure.

With only hours passed until it is turned off, Republican and Democratic leaders dealt with those responsible for Gridlock.

Republican lawmakers have called for a short -term agreement, or a continuous decision, that would keep the government funded from the current levels until November 21.

Democrats refused to support the Republican decision, on the pretext that any agreement that needs to be included to support health insurance, which is scheduled to end at the end of the year.

former Closure It led to dumping hundreds of thousands of federal workers. But in recent days, the White House suggested that closing the future government could provide an opening for federal departments and agencies to permanently shoot at employees who are considered “unnecessary”.

The last government was closed during the first Trump administration, as it lasted for more than a month, which led to the supervision of about 800,000 workers.

Non -party Congress budget office said on Tuesday that it is expected to be subjected to about 750,000 workers this time, at a cost of about $ 400 million per day.

CBO estimated that the last closure reduced economic production by $ 11 billion, including $ 3 billion that has never been restored.

But the Central Bank of Oman said that the effects of the other closure on the commercial activity were “unconfirmed,” adding: “Its size depends on the closure period and the decisions taken by the administration.”

Legislators have appeared on the brink of closure several times in recent years, but they concluded agreements at the last minute to maintain government financing.

However, the hopes of a deal at eleven o’clock in the late Monday after the Vice President JD Vance appeared from the meeting of an oval office with Trump and the leaders of Congress and warned that the government “went to stop.”

Later, Trump posted a video created from artificial intelligence to his social reality platform that mocked the Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer and the leader of the minority in the House of Representatives, Hakim Jeffrez.

Shomer responded to the video on X, saying: “If you think that stopping you is a joke, this only proves what we all know: you cannot negotiate. You can just throw anger attacks.”

Mike Johnson, a Republican spokesman for the House of Representatives, told CNBC on Tuesday morning that Shomer was “not honest” and was threatening to close political gains. Shomer was under pressure than Democrats to be more aggressive in his opposition to Trump.

Johnson said: “Their position now is pure policy. They do this for the back of Chuck Schumer, not for the American people,” Johnson said. “They are ready to get the pain to do so.”
