Rescuers are racing to withdraw dozens of students and workers from the rubble of the school building, which collapsed in East Java, Indonesia.
Officials said on Tuesday that three people were killed and 99 others were taken to hospital, and some of them suffer from decisive injuries, adding that the number of deaths may rise.
At least 38 others, many of whom are adolescent boys are trapped under the Islamic Treasury School in the eastern city of Sidwaro. They gathered to pray when the building gave the road on Monday.
The disaster mitigation agency said that the two -storey building had an unstable foundation and could not support the weight of the other two floors.
The girls were praying in another part of the building and managed to escape, according to the Associated Press.
Students at school range between 12 and 17.
Footage on the local media show the collapsed part of the completely masculine building, with large concrete panels.
The authorities said that crying and screaming can be heard from the rubble, while the anxious relatives were overwhelmed in school overnight while waiting for the news of their loved ones.
Dozens of rescuers are searching overnight for the survivors, but the rescue was temporarily suspended on Tuesday, as the authorities said that the building is at risk of further collapse.

Mohamed Sayyafi, head of the search and rescue agency, said that the collapsed building was taken on the “pie structure with layers of concrete panels only.
He said that his agency is preparing for a “specialized operation” and published units from all over the region, which will be equipped with “special” tools.
Mr. Syafeii also put the dilemma using heavy equipment, such as cranes and excavators. He said that although it helps in lifting concrete panels and open access, “converting the panels may also display the lives of survivors who are still trapped under the rubble.”
Adolescent survivors tell a horrific ordeal
Rosida, whose son Cava Ahmed Mawlana was among the missing, said she has been waiting for news since Monday evening.
“I last spoke to him the day before the accident, and nothing was unusual during that conversation,” said 47 -year -old. Another of her children, who were also affected by the collapse, are treated in the hospital.
Students who survived the accident tell their horrific escape to the local media.
The seventh grade student, Mohamed Regaloul, said that hundreds of people gathered to pray when they heard the sound of falling rocks.
“He became a higher and higher voice,” 13 -year -old told Detikjatim.
He was wrewn the falling roof, but he managed to get out of the rubble.

Another student, a sofa, told the combas that he saw the students “a lot of injuries.” “There were also broken bones,” he said.
School Acting KH ABDUS Salam Mujib apologized to students’ families on Monday, which strengthened the incident to “God’s will”. “We hope that God will replace him with something better,” he said.
Regent from the city of Sidwaro claims that the school administration did not obtain permits to expand the building.
Al -Khuzini is a traditional Islamic internal school in Indonesia known as Becantrin.
Traditionally, Pesantren focuses on Islamic studies, such as memorizing the Qur’an, learning Arab and Islamic law, but many now provide public education.
Unlike regular schools, Pesantren is under the authority of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Indonesia, not the Ministry of Education.
However, censorship is often limited. Many Pesantren work informally, without strong organization or fixed control.
The construction sector in Indonesia has a bad safety record, as the International Labor Organization classifies it among the worst in the world.
Earlier this month, at least four people were killed and dozens were injured when a building collapsed as people suddenly gathered for a prayer party in the west of Java.
