In November, Moldova’s President Maia Sandu was narrowly re-elected to a second term, despite alleged Russian interference. Sandu partly owes her victory to the votes of the largely pro-European expatriates, who represent nearly a third of Moldova’s population and 20% of the electorate. But back home, a section of the population remains firmly attached to its Soviet past and denounces the election result. The topic is controversial, even within families. Our correspondent reported.
