The Skeleton Crew finally gave us a great Star Wars villain

Well, in the penultimate episode of the series, “We’re in Big Trouble,” Judd finally showed his true colors and we loved it.

After a very entertaining scene of the parents trying to get a letter from Attin, which included many, many of those characteristic generalizations… star wars Lightning explosions, we finally catch the crew on their way home. Unfortunately for them, Brutus and his pirates arrive first. There, they told Jude that if he didn’t finally hand over the treasure to them, he would die.

Unable to break through the terrifying and deadly barrier surrounding the planet, Judd comes up with a plan. Children arrive In the new and improved Onyx carbuncleSo Judd tells the pirates that the ship is the key to getting to the planet. They seized it and tried to board it. You might assume that the children would give up, but these are not the same children who left the planet. They have changed. They are more capable. With a little trickery, they manage to capture the pirate leader Brutus, scaring the rest of his followers off. One person isn’t afraid though. This is Jude. And in the most astonishing and brutal moment of the entire series so far, Judd shoots the helpless Brutus in the head with a blaster, demanding to reclaim the pirate crew for himself.

When Jude figures out what to do next, the kids receive this message from their parents. It gives them new hope, and with a little help from SM-33, they are able to escape the pirates and fly through the barrier. They are free at home, or so they think. But no: Judd stows the ship and quickly takes control of the ship, using the lightsaber he obtained in Tak Renaud’s vault to decapitate 33. He then proceeds to threaten the children with the slow, painful murder of their parents if they don’t shut up and let him do what he wants. This, coupled with the elimination of Brutus, led to the key finally being turned over to Jude. He is in this for himself. He’s not a hero. He is an evil, smelly, and murderous pirate.

Which is amazing, isn’t it? Assuming the series continues until the final episode, we love that the big bad side of the show has been staring us in the face from the beginning. Jude was never a complete hero, but he did heroic things to help children, as well as himself. However, the fact that he always had all those nicknames and latent power ability made him even more cautious and formidable. We kind of hoped he’d be a good guy, but what’s even more satisfying for the show itself is that he won’t be. At least, not yet. It gives the kids a real threat of defeat (hopefully).

Little do the higher-ups on the planet know that Jude is a pirate arriving with the missing children. They think he is a Republican envoy arriving with a shipment of gold. Which is a bit of a relief for us viewers, but it suits Jude perfectly. It was entered directly into a huge and impressive series of vaults (1,139 in fact) filled with the credits of the Old Republic. It was the treasure that he and every pirate had always dreamed of. And he found it. He is a legend.

At this point, the families were notified of the children’s return and were reunited. It’s a touching moment but it’s quickly interrupted by Judd, who takes out his lightsaber to let them know who’s still in charge. “We’re in Big Trouble” finally brings the Skeleton Crew back to Attin, finally revealing Judd to be the true villain we hoped he wasn’t, and pulling back the curtain a bit on the planet’s realities. It’s literally filled with gold. Why? To what end? How will the crew save the day? Another episode to find out.
