Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duttri was accused of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The 80 -year -old is accused of criminal responsibility for dozens of murders claimed to have occurred as part of the so -called drug war, as thousands of drug dealers, users and others were killed without trial.
The International Criminal Court charging paper, which includes several revision operations, is illuminated from July, but it was announced only on Monday.
The Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Mami Mandayyi Niang, said Duterte was a “indirect participation” in the killings, which the court led by others, including the police, said.
The first issue against Mr. Doterti relates to his alleged involvement in the killing of 19 people in Davao between 2013 and 2016 while he was a mayor there.
The other two charges are related to the times when he was the head of the Philippines, between 2016 and 2022, and launched the so -called drug war.
The second issue is related to killing 14 “high -value targets” across the country, while the third is related to killing and tried to kill 45 people in village clearance operations.
General prosecutors pointed to how Mr. Doterti and his alleged participants participated in a joint plan or agreement to “neutralize” the alleged criminals in the Philippines (including those who perceive or claim to be linked to drug use, sale or production) through violent crimes including killing.
There was no apology for the anti -drug brutality campaign, which witnessed the killing of more than 6000 people – although activists believe that the real number can coincide with tens of thousands.
Mr. Duttti said he had registered drug dealers to rid the country of street crimes.
Rodrigo Dertt is the first former Asian state head accused by the International Criminal Court – and the first suspect to be transferred to The Hague in the Netherlands – where the court is based – within more than three years. He has been in reservation there since March.
His lawyer said that Mr. Doterti was unable to center because of bad health.
In May, former President Davao mayor was elected, although he was in prison. His son Sebastian (who has been working as a mayor since 2022) continued as a mayor of Acting in his father’s position.
Supporters of Mr. Duttti claimed that the International Criminal Court was used as a political tool by the current president of the country, Ferdinand Marcus, who has publicly fell with the strong family of Dutti.
The International Criminal Court does not actually have any ability to arrest people without the cooperation of the countries in which they are, which are often rejected-Marcus had previously rejected the idea of cooperation with the International Criminal Court.
