She said that about 15 flights were converted into other airports.

Meanwhile, Copenhagen police said that “three or four large drones” have been observed as they fly over the airport.

“They are still flying back, forth, and they go,” said the duty officer, Annette Ostfelt, to Agence France -Presse at 10:45 pm (20:45 GMT), adding that the police were at the airport.

She could not say whether the drones were military or civilian.

“But they are greater than you can buy as a special individual,” said Ostfield.

Airport officials said the airport will remain closed until the situation is resolved. “We do not currently have a timetable to reopen it,” said the airport spokeswoman.

The incident comes at a time when many European countries reported violations of their airspace by Russia. Estonia said on Friday that three Russian Mig-31 fighter planes entered Estonian airspace without permission.

During a Russian air strike on Ukraine in the previous week, Poland said about 19 drones were flying to the airspace. The Polish Air Force and NATO allies have dropped some unmanned vehicles, which was the first time that Russian drones have been shot down on NATO since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Romania also recorded a Russian drone in the airspace.

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) was held on Monday to address the issue of airspace violations.

The Russian Ambassador to the United Nations, Dmitry Pollesky, denied allegations that Moscow fighter planes had violated the airspace of neighboring Estonia, saying that last Friday from three aircraft of its Mig-31 aircraft had been “according to international regulations for the air field.”

The Russian Ministry of Defense repeated his remarks, saying that “objective monitoring” confirmed that Meghaz did not violate the Estonian border.

NATO allies condemned at the UNTC meeting Russia for violating the airspace of the alliance.

“Your reckless actions risk confronting the direct armed confrontation between NATO and Russia. Our alliance is defensive, but we are not under an illusion ready to defend the NATO sky and NATO lands.”

The NATO Council will meet in NATO to discuss the case on Tuesday.
