Skeleton Crew Episode 7 brings to mind Anakin Skywalker’s darkest moments

All of the “Star Wars” projects exist on a wide range of intensity, from the Saturday morning adventures of animated series like “Rebels” to the hyper-mechanical, anti-imperial politics of “Andor.” But within every project, there is also scope. For example, “Rebels” has a lot of cartoonish episodes filled with hijinks and fatherly jokes, but it also goes all out every now and then for some much heavier moments.

For the most part, “Skeleton Crew” stays on the younger side of things, as should be evident from its four prepubescent protagonists. Sure, there are hints of some adult-oriented ideas, but the show generally stayed in Amblin Entertainment’s strip of serious but not dark childhood adventure stories. He said that, “Skeleton Crew” Episode 7“We’re Gonna Be in So Much Trouble” has a brief moment that reminds us of one of the darkest moments in the entire “Star Wars” franchise.

After an entire season of characters telling kids they can’t trust Jude Na-Nawood (Jude Law), he proves all his haters right by reverting to his pirate ways. Judd re-infiltrates Onyx Cinder while on the run from his old pirate crew, wears his full mask, and yells at the kids that they are weak, annoying, and generally useless. He does all this while brandishing a looted lightsaber, which he had previously found in the hidden treasure of legendary pirate captain Tak Renaud. While it’s pretty clear that Judd really does have a soft spot for kids, and that he often strikes poses, it’s still hard to watch him threaten kids with a blue lightsaber and not think about it. Lightsabers are always cool, but they’re not always scary. When they are, it’s usually the red color that causes the damage. When Jude swings into the Onyx Cinder cockpit and ignites his stolen blade, the kids tremble in fear, and rightfully so. Although it’s not shot-for-shot, the scene will naturally conjure images of the youngsters hiding in the Jedi Council room in “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.”

Perhaps the most interesting part of this scene is that it is possible that Judd himself was one of the survivors of this attack. He appears to be in his forties in the “Skeleton Crew,” which would certainly have made him old enough to be chosen by the Jedi and taken to the temple on Coruscant before or during the Clone Wars. We also know that he received at least some proper Jedi training, as Loim (Raffi Cabot Conyers) said in a previous episode: “Your focus determines your reality.” The same sentence Qui-Gon Jinn delivers to young Anakin in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.”

If Jude had not been in the Coruscant Jedi Temple during Order 66, he would have been out on a mission with his master, fighting in the war. Given his age, the first option seems more likely, meaning he’s aware of the damage a blue lightsaber can do in the wrong hands.

Even now, it’s difficult to know how much proper lightsaber training Judd Na Na’od had, because he didn’t do much with the lightsaber he stole other than wave it threateningly. Likewise, his arc was mostly a copy and paste of Long John Silver from “Treasure Island” (or “Treasure Planet,” whichever you prefer). After a period of bad luck, he comes across some kids who have a real shot at getting him to a big payday. He comes to care for them, but when the treasure is in sight, he turns his back on his apparent character development in order to escape with the loot. Even his pirate name, Captain Silvo, is a nod to the character.

It seems clear that in Episode 8, Jude will change his mind and regret the way he treats the kids. But with only one episode left, we may end Season 1 of “Skeleton Crew” with some big questions looming about Jude’s past. His powers don’t seem that strong, compared to some other characters in the “Star Wars” universe, but he could still come in handy if the rumors are true that some “Skeleton Crew” characters will appear in an upcoming Dave Filoni movie. The movie “Star Wars”. This movie is supposed to be a climax of sorts to the “The Mandalorian” era, and it will be interesting to see God interact with some of the other Jedi-adjacent characters like Ahsoka Tano, Ezra Bridger, and even Grogu, who was himself the survivor of Anakin’s Jedi Temple attack .
