This legend is that Europe is great in the Rider Cup and America is garbage in the Rider Cup. The truth is that both teams play at home and that the two teams are poor on the road.
We have lost three of the last four games far from seven points. We did not go away from the house and lost, we were beaten comprehensively in three of the last four games, so we are doing things differently.
The first roll of dice was to restore a leader there was before. We felt that it was a mistake on the way with the tribes who had not done it before and trying to learn the job, as well as dealing with the difficult challenge of playing.
The second is the data that shows us that young people do not really lead to home. It is extremely difficult to play the first Rider Cup in that environment, so you have an important experience.
We had to create rehabilitation standards that would have given us the best opportunity for experience, but also honoring the DP World tour and honoring the fact that men need an opportunity to get rid of the DP World tour. I think we have achieved it.
EDOARDO MOLINARI (team leader) has done incredible in the points system, where we have 11 out of 12 returning players and two of these players in the team qualified through the DP World round.
Rasmus Hojgaard is clear, where he ranked second in Dubai at the end of last year, won an Irish Open Championship and won most rehabilitation points in the DP World tour. The other is Tyrrell Hatton, which was clearly banned in the PGA tour.
Haton was forced to achieve his points either through specializations or playing in particular in the events of the DP World round, where he played wonderfully. I think we have a really good balance in rehabilitation standards.
The third is to communicate with the players and deal with this boiler from playing away from home. I think Luke Donald will talk about it more, but there was a great deal of communication – more at all.
Regular communication was in preparing them for the challenge, and putting different ideas in front of them regarding what we deal with – how we dealt with him in the past successfully and mistakes that we may have committed in the past.
This is the most prepared team that I have ever happened. We have come to this completely different from any external match, and we faced it before.
Can additional details help Europe?
It is clear that the Americans are pushed to play the Rider Cup. Our players do not want to get their salaries, but we invest money in this team more than we have done before in terms of preparation and details that we will do unusual.
Nutritionists and our doctors have already been in Pithabag over the past six months, where they gathered with chefs and meeting with people who will do food there to exchange recipes, ideas and nutrition.
We have our own gyms and our own equipment that the players are used to. They will be installed in the cabinet room in the club as well as at the hotel. Our viruses have also come out, so you have additional days to adapt anything they might need.
The preparation of the going on this trip is something that we have not done before in an external match, with two and a half days before the match before the match. They played 27 hole, 18 in one day and nine on the other hand, with meetings in the evening times.
Luke shared ideas and partnerships with the players and went to some larger details. It was also some time of interconnection with players and treatment together, wearing the same uniform and all the things that suit them.
It was a small group – we had only players, Caddies, the Captain, Captain, Mendi, and perhaps 10 people in the Backroom team who help in facilitating everything we did. I think we got a lot of interconnection from him and a lot of ideas in the golf field, and how you’ll play.
Now the players spent a few days. We asked them to stay at the time of the eastern coast, so they are not affected by the delay of Jet – something we haven’t done before. Everyone has returned to their homes or took a house in Hamptons to play some golf and relax.
All this is completely detailed and I only did not touch the edge of the ice there. I can assure you that we went to a lot of lengths that we have not done before – regarding preparing this team – and taking over what we know may be the most difficult challenge ever.
Will Europe be ready for the “hostile” crowd?
You can get all the atmosphere, you can get all the feeding, you can get all the work of the gym, and the preparation – you can go anywhere you want with all the details, but the bottom line can players perform in an enemy environment?
We have tried to allocate the team to create players who are clearly in a state, but they also witnessed enough to take this. Can our players bring huge points? Because you win the Rider Cup with the best players.
If you take VikTor Hovland, Jon Rahm and Rory Mcilroy at the last Ryder Cup, you look at 10 points between them. Then you only need four and a half points from the rest to get the line, so the performance of the big players wins the Ryder Cup, which is the same on the American side.
Everything has been pushed towards performance. Can you perform at the time it was customized, which is the Rider Cup match away? It is not easy. There will be a lot of screaming, a lot of calm, and perhaps some personal insults that were thrown on you as they walk from green to the starting point.
Can you reset yourself? Can you sink this noise and reset yourself and present it in that hostile environment? Football players or Rakbi players get used to that, because they play every secondary week, while golf players are not.
Can Europe finish the domination of the house?
If you are going to put the Ryder Cup in a neutral place, you may have money for the two teams to win, but since it is a home place, it is clear that the host team has a distinctive feature and they really prefer.
I think the United States was not ready in Rome. They came and had to deal with Jet Lag during the week and many have not played a championship for nearly six weeks. We make sure that we did not make these mistakes and gave ourselves the best chance.
We had some guest speakers from other sports that come and talk about playing in an enemy environment, so we are doing our best to prepare players mentally on what is the challenge.
We have a few tricks that are lifted from our arms and have two ways to consider this in a different way from what we might look before. We have an experienced team and now that we have seen the golf course, we are aware of what the test will be.
We worked hard behind the scenes. We think they will be well ready and ready for what the challenge will be. Even if we do not win, I would like to think that we will close this gap in terms of loss points, and we really approach it.
It is important to escalate and perform better away from home than we have done recently.
