Japan’s exports slide for the fourth month in a row, but less than expected

Japan’s exports fell less than expected in August, despite the extension of their shrinkage in the fourth month in a row.

Japanese charges decreased by 0.1 % on an annual basis, compared to a decrease of 2.6 % in July. This was 1.9 % softer to shrinking by Reuters economists.

The country’s imports have contracted at a 5.2 % softening pace, compared to a decrease of 7.4 % in July, but more than a decrease of 4.2 % expected in the Reuters poll.
