Hermeto Pascoal, an innovative Brazilian composer famous for his mixture of jazz and traditional music, died at the age of 89.
Multiple multiple musicians learned from children’s poverty to international fame – where Miles Davis described it as “an important musician on this planet.”
He was “surrounded by the family and musicians,” says a statement announces his death. He did not give details.
Pascoal wrote more than 2000 useful pieces and continued to arrange music and record artists in his eighties.
The artist was primarily a pianist and flute player, but he also played Sachavone, the guitars, drums and Corbiyat – and often merged home objects in his work.
While recording his first album Slaves Mass for Warner Brothers in 1976, he brought a pair of live pigs to the studio.
He was born on June 22, 1936 in a rural settlement in northeastern Alagos, and he was unable to work abroad with his family because of the eggs, and the science of music while spending his days at home.
At the age of ten, he started playing in dances and wedding parties, before playing the role of Foreru and other traditional Brazilian music throughout the region.
In the late fifties of the last century, he moved to Rio de Janeiro and discovered the scene of jazz in the city, performance in nightclubs and joining the Radio Orchestra.
His mixture of jazz and traditional popular styles has caused the attention of Brazil’s largest stars in this kind.
The singer Elis Regina performed Pascawal, as she did and the rhythmic Arto Morera.
The latter was accompanied by a tour to the United States, where he was presented to Miles Davis.
But despite obtaining respect for stars in the jazz world, Pascoal rejected the brand as jazz music, and he said he owes Brazilian music like Chorinho and Samba.
“When they think I am doing one thing, I really do something else … it’s very liquid,” Jazz World said in 2022.
The Pascoal family announced his death on his Instagram page on Saturday.
He urged people to “leave one note – from a tool, your voice or a boiler – and bring it to the universe” if they want to honor it.
