Chinese citizens were imprisoned in South Africa due to the kidnapping and forced work of the Malawi

Seven Chinese citizens who evaded Malawi were handed over to South Africa and were subjected to forced work in the prison period for 20 years for each of them.

The four men and three women were convicted of human trafficking and kidnapping earlier this year by the South African Court.

Their punishment comes after nearly six years of arrest when the local authorities raided a factory in Johannesburg and found 91 male citizens, 37 of them, working in horrific conditions.

Human trafficking is a great concern in South Africa, as the country is “a source, pulsating and destination”, according to the government.

The group – Kevin deso, Chen Hui, Chen Lee, Jiakeng Chu, Mao Piao, Dai Jonians and Chang Chilan – were convicted in 158 of 160 charges charged.

This includes helping illegal immigrants to stay in South Africa and violate the country’s labor laws by not registering their operations and maintaining their profit record among other things.

The factory raid came after the authorities received information about a worker who managed to escape.

It appeared later that the employees were forced to work for 11 hours, seven days a week, without training or suitable safety equipment.

They were also paid much less than the minimum wage in South Africa of $ 1.64 (1.22 pounds) per hour and their salaries were entrusted if they wanted to leave.

According to South African Labor Laws, employees cannot work more than nine hours a day and are generally entitled to “a weekly rest period of no less than 36 consecutive hours” that include Sunday, unless a different agreement is reached.

A man witnessed that the workers were not allowed to leave the buildings of the deprived factory, even to buy food, which he described as dirty and inappropriate for humans.

According to the authorities, the victims were smuggled into the country in the shipping of containers.
