There is a lot you like about the new iPhone collection: New new And even a iPhone, if this is your thing. All new phones share a single task upgrade that may have been missed during a 72 -minute broadcast of Apple, although they all start storage 256 GB.
For the first time in four years, Apple has raised the basis storage on the entire iPhone assortment. Since iPhone 13, Apple phones started at 128 GB for the cheapest composition. Now, iPhone 17, 17 Pro and iPhone Air will start to double this capacity.
Time.
Although 128 GB may seem as a suitable amount of storage, it was not logical as a basic amount of storage for some time, especially for the pro -level phones, which have much more powerful cameras. Apple seems to have understood this for a period of time: over the past two years (when the IPHONE 15 collection has been launched), the PRO MAX versions have started with a capacity of 256 GB. But there is absolutely no reason that people who buy the most expensive iPhone should get a storage stumbling block.
Because I am writing about technology, my friends and family often ask me to “fix” various problems with their phones. (I spend most of my time reporting the social media industry, so this usually includes me just Google in their specific problem and confusion.) I have lost the times that friends asked her to help fix the things that wander around the fact that they have no enough storage on their phones. Almost every time, they only have the minimum storage 128 GB, which has become standard since the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 13 line.
But no one wants to hear: “You don’t have enough storage, you need to delete things.” One of my friends recently pledged not to buy the cheapest iPhone again, after I made it clear that the additional ICLOOD payment will not address its local storage problems.
But if you can bear it, the payment for the storage upgrade is still worth it. Yes, he paid an additional $ 200 for 512 GB for another $ 400 compared to 1 TB on the Pro series (which is now in 1999 for 2 TB). It makes a phone that is already costly to feel like a larger investment. But as a person who reached him to iPhone 14 Pro 512 GB three years ago, I had no remorse for this additional bonus.
I am currently using about 295 GB of my allocated storage and I have never had to think if I need to wipe the downloaded media or if I have enough storage capacity to photograph pictures of my nephew in Proraw Max or recording cinemas on vacation. I plan to keep this phone at least another year, and I expect that I still have a lot of remaining storage by time I decided to upgrade (the additional storage also helps a little bit in resale or commercial value).
However, if you cannot bring yourself to pay more for more capacity – and get it, I really do it – jumping from 128 GB to 256 GB will remain a meaningful bump. You may not notice it immediately, but most people should give a lot of additional time before they start seeing these “stored” predictions.
