US President Donald Trump announced that the Israeli -Russian researcher was released after “she was tortured for several months.”
In a publication on the social truth, Trump said: “I am pleased to inform you that Elizabeth Tsorkov, a Printestone student, her sister, is just issued by Hezbollah Catib, and she is now safely at the American embassy in Iraq.”
Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad al -Shi’i confirmed the release of shopping shortly after that.
She had been lost in Iraq during a research trip in March 2023 – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said several months later that she had detained Katib Hezbollah, backed by Iran.
In a post on X, Sudani said that the release of Mrs. Tzorkov was “the culmination of the extensive efforts practiced by our security services for several months.”
He added that the security services on Tuesday managed to “discover” the place where the student was detained, before they were handed over to the American embassy.
At that time, Netanyahu’s office said that Mrs. Tzorkov entered Iraq with the Russian passport.
According to Mrs. Tzorkov’s website, her research focuses on the Levant – a historical term referring to a large geographical region including Israel, current Syria and other regions – and “the Syrian uprising and civil war”.
Katayb Hezbollah (Hezbollah Brigade) is a strong Iraqi Shiite militia that receives financial and military support from Iran. It was appointed by the United States as a terrorist organization in 2009.
As Tuesday on the social truth, Trump also said: “I will always fight for justice and will never give up.
“Hamas, free the hostages, now!” He added, referring to these people who were seized by the Palestinian group during its deadly attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
