Lenovo’s latest laptop has a rotatable OLED display

But if you can’t beat them, join them. That’s what Lenovo did with the Legion Go S. This is not a successor to Legion go– The company revealed a prototype of the game Legion Go 2 with some small improvements – but it is an alternative version that comes in two versions: Windows or SteamOS. This makes it the first licensed portable gaming console to run SteamOS. Unfortunately, there’s no dual-play option, you have to choose which operating system you want at checkout, although you are able to run third-party game stores on SteamOS, such as the Epic Games Store.

With SteamOS, you can take advantage of cloud saves, so you can stop playing on your desktop or laptop and jump into Legion Go S without losing progress. You can also stream games from your PC to the console if they’re more graphically demanding (as long as your internet connection is good).

Software aside, the Legion Go S variants have the same hardware. It’s powered by AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Go or Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, and features an 8-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels with an LCD display. 120Hz variable refresh rate. The smaller, lower-resolution screen on the original Legion Go offers better battery life, though it also helps that the battery is stronger at 55.5 watt-hours. It doesn’t have removable controllers, though you can use the two USB-C ports to connect it to a monitor for a desktop-like experience, and there’s a microSD card slot for expanding storage.

The Windows-powered Legion Go S starts at $730 and arrives this month, though there will be other configurations with newer chipsets coming later in May, with prices starting at $600. The SteamOS version starts at $500 and launches in May.

Lenovo has dozens of new CES products, but the latest gadget that caught my attention is the ThinkCentre M90a Pro Gen 6 All-in-one computer. It doesn’t sound all that exciting (it’s rarely all that exciting), but Lenovo has a new technology called “Lenovo Focus Sound” injected into this device. This is almost like a movie applied to the screen that delivers the audio specifically to you – using a machine learning algorithm and built-in camera, it makes sure that only you can hear the audio from the screen so your nearby co-workers can’t hear that you’re secretly catching up. It may sound weird, like someone is whispering in your ear, but it works! I stood directly in front of the computer and listened to the demo, and the people next to me couldn’t hear anything. I moved a little to the right, and the sound disappeared. This sounds useful for office environments, but again, headphones already exist.
