Darren Locker says that London Bronco’s renewal to harness the appetite of the Rugby League in the capital can have a transformational effect on the global game.

NRL Legend Lockyer and Grant Wechsel visited London during the weekend to apply for their trying to get broncos, confirming the application to join the extended Premier League in 2026.

The couple watched the club’s final match in the championship season – a 34-24 loss against Bradford Bulls in Wimbledon on Saturday.

“I want to be the diet of the best version that can be all over the world, and London has a large part of it,” he said. “This is an opportunity to save the club as well as help the Rugby League as a sports.”

He continued: “Our focus is to properly direct business.

“Performance in this field is important, but we feel, given the experience it got through NRL, and the advisors we have on the plane who have a lot of experience in building companies around football clubs in Australia, we can provide this experience here.

“When you are in London, you cannot think about the way the northern clubs think, you need to think differently. London is a different market, and we will allocate our approach with this market.”

The acquisition, in which the CEO of LeEDS RHINOS has been completed by the end of the month.

The consortium bronnco – the club in which Lukuer spent his entire career – supports a historical link between the two clubs dating back to the nineties.

The new ownership of the club is planning to restore the club before the 2026 season, spending on the maximum salary, and the signing of three players from a marquee to build a competitive list.

Locker revealed the former Widens star and Wickfield star – and the current coach Lapua New Guinea – Jasson Dimitrio was moved to take over the responsibility of Bronco, taking into account the entry into the Premier League.

Dimitrio, who seized Wickfield Trainte for five seasons, provides extensive experience from the English and Australian Rugby League.

It was part of the 2015 North Quezland training staff, and led South Sydney Rabbituhs south of Sydney to a preliminary final before leaving in 2024.

“Two decisive dates”

Wechsel stopped naming the names when it comes to the potential Bronko gunmies, but it hinted at the announcement of their primary goal will make “background news” in Australia.

“We are already talking to people,” Locker said. “The coach is already committed, taking into account that he is in the Premier League.

“Jason Dimitrio has been our goal. He had a lot of experience in England as a player and coach. He got South Sydicohs to the position of (primary final) before he had a difficult year. So, the bench had some time, but now he has a possible chance with us.

“The other main part of this is to get our club captain, and we look at an experienced player from NRL to come.

“We are looking for leadership, and if we get these two appointments properly, we believe that we can build a list quickly.

“We feel that there is a handful in the current Broncos team that can be kept in the Premier League, as the goal for the first year will be on the sidelines of the finals.”

BRONCOS currently plays their home games at the Cherry Red Records in AFC Wimbledon, a Lukuer and WechSEL place committed to staying in the near future.

“You must crawl before walking, and walk before running,” Locker added. “The stadium is perfect for the place where the club is currently.

“Our vision is to obtain a sufficient number of members to sell this land every time we play at home. If we outperform this stadium, this is a good thing.”
