An asylum seeker lives on a migrant ship in the UK and suffers from depression by running while waiting for an asylum decision.
Salah, a Somali asylum seeker in his mid-20s, lives aboard the ship Baby Stockholm in Portland, UK, along with 411 other men. While he waits for an interview at the Home Office, his small shared room becomes a battleground for depression.
In order to cope, Salah takes up running and joins a local club, which provides him with a short respite from isolation. He also volunteers at a youth center, where he learns that the United Kingdom is not what he expected. When the interview date finally comes, Salah’s future is at stake, as is the case with Pepe Stockholm.
The Last Days of Baby Stockholm is a documentary film by Sue Sudbury and Dave Young.
