Djed Spence opens to become the first Muslim football player in England

Djed Spence’s invitation to Thomas Tuchel team in England in the World Cup qualifiers in September was a highlight of a profession itself-but it carries great importance to the field.

By winning his place in the team, Tottenham Hotspur defender became the first Muslim football player to practice a phone call to men in England. If it appears in any of the upcoming matches against Andorra or Serbia, Spence is expected to make history as the first Muslim man to play with the three lions.

Talk to BBC Sport About the achievement, the 25 -year -old admitted that the moment was difficult to put in words.

“It is a blessing – it is amazing. I don’t really have words,” he said. “I pray to God a lot, I give gratitude to God. In the most difficult moments of my life, the darkest moments, I always thought that God was always beside me. It is a big thing for me, my faith.”

The invitation of Spence, a noticeable shift on the field of the previous right income in Midsbro, which was sent on loan by Spears three times-in Ren, Leeds and Jinwa-before the first team stormed last season and played a major role in the European League victory.

Now, Spence says he wants to use his story as an inspiration for others, focusing on enjoying the simplicity of football.

“I don’t really feel pressure on certain things. I just play football with a smile on my face, be happy, and the rest will take care of yourself,” I explained. “If I can do this, you can do this. Not only Muslim children, any child of any faith. Place your mind on something and you can do this.”
