At least 31 people were killed, and about 50,000 people were killed after violent joint clashes in the Safana area of Ghana, causing a dispute on the ground in the village of Gbiniyiri. The conflict, which erupted in August, forced more than 13,000 Ghanaians to resort to the adjacent ivory coast, as the authorities are now racing to restore calm, and to provide assistance and investigation into the root causes of disturbances.
