Flames erupted from the wing of a plane as it landed at a Canadian airport, and a passenger, who noticed them outside his window, captured them on video.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on December 28 on Air Canada Express Flight 2259, operated by PAL Airlines, the airport reported on X. The flight was arriving from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, These flights land at Halifax Stanfield Airport in Nova Scotia.
“He’s just died, boys,” Aden O’Callaghan said from inside the plane as he was recording.
O’Callaghan told Media Storyful that a “landing gear malfunction” led to a fire and also caused the plane to skid down the runway for more than 15 seconds.

O’Callaghan told CBC he felt concussed the day after the hard landing and had neck and back pain.

The airport posted on X less than an hour after the incident saying that everyone on board had exited the plane and that the airport was temporarily closed while the situation was being addressed.
