A severe winter storm has battered the eastern United States, disrupting travel and leaving more than 175,000 people without power. Heavy snow and freezing rain killed at least five people and grounded thousands of flights. Despite the storm, Congress met to certify the election results, coinciding with the anniversary of the Capitol riots.
