The makers of the camera-equipped bird feeder, Bird Buddy, have introduced two new products in Consumer Electronics Show 2025 Under a new brand called Wonder that lets you spy on nature and help pollinators thrive.
The Petal, a solar-powered camera with interchangeable lenses and Nature Intelligence (aka AI) technology, can be attached to a clip, flexible arm or leg, so it can be set up almost anywhere you want outside. It will analyze everything it sees to let you know which birds, insects, and other creatures you’ve stopped at. The second product, Wonder Blocks, is a modular system that looks a bit like a residential building for insects and birds. Everything is very nice.
The Petal Camera comes in soft, bright colors like orange, blue, and yellow, so it looks at home in a flower pot or wrapped around a thin branch of a tree. It can record live footage and stream it to your phone, sending feedback on “sights and sounds of nature, from a bird hatching to a butterfly flapping its wings, and a flower opening and being pollinated by bees,” according to the company. If you also have Wonder Blocks, you can use Petal to monitor the small community forming there.
There are many options when it comes to ingredients you can add to Wonder Blocks; The complete system includes a base at the bottom, an insect hotel, a large plant base, a seed tray, a bee hotel, and a butterfly feeder at the top. Both Petal and Wonder Blocks will launch on Kickstarter this spring.
