A large -scale earthen wall is built around the besieged Sudanese city of Al -Fashir and aims at the trap of people at home, according to a research from Yale University.

From satellite images, the university’s humanitarian research laboratory has identified more than 31 km (19 miles) of “Berms” – and high banks have been known – since May in an area outside the city occupied by the semi -military rapid support forces (RSF).

The Copyright, under the siege for more than a year, is the last foothold in Darfur for the army, who has been fighting RSF since April 2023.

The BBC’s BBC network told RSF to intensify its satire there and intentionally targeting civilians.

“Yesterday, there was a bombing in a civilian area in the city center that ended with the killing of nearly 24 civilians and the injury of 55 people, including five women,” said Dr. Mohamed Faisal Hassan, of the BBC New Zday.

He said that the attacks on the central market and a residential area were “deliberate” and “ugly”.

“Three days ago, they targeted one of the largest hospitals in the Cashir and resulted in a huge massacre of patients and medical employees.”

BBC says verification that both sides of the conflict were using Berms as a defensive strategy.

But the analysis conducted by the HR Research Laboratory (HRL), which was closely monitoring the conflict, indicates that RSF “creates a literal killing box about the Shine.”

HRL follows the construction of dirt walls on the Fasher Map (above):

  • Green Line: It is designed 9 km between 14 and 24 July 2025 (satellite pictures appear Alsen Village in this extension)
  • Yellow line: 6 km from 3 and 19 August 2025
  • Blue Line: It was built 7 km between May 5 and 12 July 2025
  • Red line: Currently 9 km with continuous construction between 13-27 August 2025.

HRL report It is noted that the material borders deepen the conditions of the blockade and control of whom and what can enter or leave the city, where about 300,000 people live.

Since the outbreak of the conflict, RSF fighters and allied Arab militias in Darfur have been accused of targeting people from non -Arab ethnic groups.

“Some civilians are trying to escape from the city, but unfortunately they are targeted and killed by the RSF forces.”

RSF has previously denied the targeting of civilians and the implementation of ethnic cleansing.

The barriers hold things for civilians who try to flee or those who seek to bring food, medicine and other essential elements.

Humanitarian organizations have not been able to reach the Cashir for months, and the remaining civilians bear continuous bombing, the scarcity of food and difficulties in reaching medical care.

Escape for many is impossible.

“We have no money,” said Halima Hashem, 37, who is the principal of the school and a mother of four tools.

She said that staying behind him was like slow death, but “departure is dangerous.”

With the construction of the physical wall, the HRL report indicates that RSF “also define the necessary tactical conditions” to defeat the army squad there.

The fall of El -Fasher will mean that RSF is fully controlled in the western region of Darfur.

Observers warn that such a scenario can lead to the division of the country because the warring forces have appointed all their governments.

According to Yale’s HRL, construction of the earthy wall continues.

The researchers noticed a capacity of 22 km, which formed a semicircle from west to north of the city.

The last of about 9 kilometers from the wall north and south by a main road in the east.

It seems that part of Berm, which was built through Alsen (as shown in satellite images above) shows that the majority of the village has been destroyed between May 20 and July 6.

The damage caused by the RSF bombing to a decisive water treatment facility near the airport, where the army is located.

Researchers believe that the factory is still working in spite of damage.

Adeeb Abdel Rahman Youssef, Governor of Central Darfur State, the United Nations Security Council appealed to the protection of civilians in the Persians.

The former politician is currently working with members of the non -governmental organizations of people, who has a presence in El Fasher.

“The civilian population is paying the weight of a price. No one to protect them,” he told the BBC global service.
