The head of the defense in Washington said that the United States had launched a review of the participation of Chinese citizens in the management of sensitive cloud services of the American army.

US Defense Secretary Pete HegSeth said on Wednesday that he had ordered a review of Microsoft’s use of Chinese citizens to help manage sensitive cloud services to determine whether any security violations had occurred.

“The use of Chinese citizens in the Ministry of Defense cloud environments – the matter is over,” Higseth said in the video statement.

“We have issued an official letter concerning the documentation of this Microsoft this breach of confidence, and we are asking to review the external side of the Microsoft Digital Porting Program, including the code and the offerings made by Chinese citizens.”

“Did they put anything in the code we did not know about?”

Higseth said that he also directed software service providers to determine and end “any Chinese participation in DOD systems.”

HegSeth command comes after the investigation report by PROPUBLICA documented in July the employment of Microsoft for contractors in China and other foreign countries to maintain cloud systems in the Ministry of Defense in conjunction with US -based “digital escorts”.

After the report, Microsoft announced that it will not use technicians in China to support the army.

Higseth, who announced an immediate review of China’s participation in cloud services after the PROPUBLICA report, said that the exclusion of Chinese citizens from sensitive systems was “common sense.”

He said: “We expect the sellers to deal with the Ministry of Defense in protecting the US National Security before maximizing profits.”
